Old Salfordians Golf Association.
The 2007 Autumn Meeting was held on the 5th September. The venue was Whitefield Golf Club whose new
clubhouse and catering facilities were excellent. Sixteen old boys and three guests turned out to play and
were joined by Ron Mason for the meal and presentation. Ron would have played except that he had broken
his toe the previous evening when kicking the cat! The September weather was good and the course provided
a stiff challenge with treelined fairways and tight greens. At just over 6000 yards the course is not particularly
long but the hilly terrain and high mature trees reqired care.
The Autumn Trophy winner with
36 points, was Ron Howarth, runner-up
Peter Collins, with Derek Crompton in
third place.
Nearest the pin winner was Jim Clarke
and the longest drive prize went to
Graham Davies.
There was no booby prize awarded this
year much to Steve Hindley's disgust.
There was however a team prize which
was won by Ron Howarth, Dave Barnes,
Derek Shaw and Tim Collins (Peter's
son).

All in all the event was a great success
but we could really do with more
members turning out. The next meeting
will be held in early May 2008 so watch
this space for the3 date and venue.
