The very first Old Salfordians Pub Club attracted members from near and far.
Alan Johnson (1958-65) made the trip down from Bishop Aukland and regaled the congregation with stories from his time at our school. The Committee was out in force with the Secretary first to take up a seat, followed by the Chairman, the Vice Chairman and the Treasurer. Chris Brogan, Haydn Rigby and John Stewart all kept the beer and the conversation flowing. It’s always great to see someone at an Old Salfordians ‘do’ for the first time and we all welcomed Brian Moses (1967-73) to the fold. Brian’s dad, Dai, played for Salford and will be fondly remembered by the older members of the Association. Brian himself was no mean player and gained enormous kudos at school from his job at the Willows whenever Salford played. Brian would stand on the top of the Social Club, and if the ball landed there from a kick at goal, Brian would retrieve it and drop kick it back to great cheers from the crowd. What the first ever Pub Club lacked in quantity, it certainly made up for in quality. Here’s to the next one.
