If there is one thing that an old boy of Salford Grammar School can remember, it is what house he was in.

At Leaf Square the four houses were Seedley, Pendleton, Weaste and North. When the school moved to the Eccles Old Road site in 1956, the four houses became Gloucester, Lancaster, Warwick and York.

Each on had its own Housemaster and its own Assembly, usually on a Friday. The sporting and cultural competitions between the houses were as keenly fought as any against other schools.
