Salford Grammar School has a long and proud tradition in the dramatic arts. It has produced some notable actors including its most famous of old boys, Albert Finney, and in more recent years, the award winning actor and scriptwriter, Martin Hesford. Many of those boys who were at the school in the 1970s will remember with great fondness Philip Dent. Mr Dent taught woodwork, but his passion was drama and he produced and directed with great flair. The ‘School Play’ was always much anticipated and played to sell out audiences throughout its run.
