So many masters were keen students of the game of cricket, that it is no surprise that it became the principal summer sport at Salford Grammar School. To play for the school First XI was the ambition of any boy who ever strapped on a pad or picked up the red leather ball. The annual game against the staff was much anticipated and watched by the whole school.
